Pushing Through 331/365

I started my morning off like I do many mornings with an OTF session. It was another ESP day or a little bit of everything. And, of course there was my favorite: rowing 🚣‍♀️ Whoooo can you feel the sarcasm?

I have felt a little off and not feeling as strong or able to push as hard as I have been. I don’t know if I pushed myself a bit too much with the 5 days in a row or I’m just tired, or maybe a combination of both. Either way, I did the workout and even though I wasn’t going as fast on the treadmill I was able to get myself up into the Orange and earn the splat points. On the weight floor I definitely was lifting a weight that was a challenge by the last couple of reps so that’s a sign of picking a good weight. I’ve got tomorrow off and then Friday I’ll workout and take Saturday off. I’m hoping the every other day off for a short bit may help me get some of my power and speed back. We shall see.

As I was leaving work today my co-workers asked me what was for dinner. My answer I have no clue. I didn’t meal plan this week, uhm actually I haven’t even grocery shopped for the week. I cooked so much the end of last week that I just wasn’t into thinking about what I’d eat this week. So yeah this week is going to be an ode to my sister-in-law and her Raccoon Meals.

And, well since last night I had no desire to eat, forge for something to make, or even cook I opted for gummy worms. Yeah that’s right I ate a handful of gummy worms for dinner last night. Don’t judge me. I mean Hello they are the berry ones and well they were berry good.

So to make up for that tonight I went with veggies. Lots of green on my plate. Mixed green salad and Dr Praegers spinach bites. And, yes the bites are in the shapes of dinosaurs and stars. Again don’t judge me clearly this week I’m channeling my inner toddler palate.

It was good got my iron in some protein and my servings of veggies. So I’ll call it a win.

At work I worked on some videos for our teams YouTube page and am working on some more. So it was a productive day all around. Workout✔️ Ate somewhat healthy dinner✔️ Got stuff done for work and was able to contribute something of value to our team✔️ So see it’s a good day.

Happy Hump Day.

What A Day 330/365

Today I just couldn’t wake up. I’m still at that point but it’s okay because I’m getting ready for bed. So I can sleep all I want.

I went to PT for the lose of sensation in my fingers and palms. It is the only visit I’ll have to make which is nice. They gave me a bunch of exercises to do at home but no real reason as to why I’m having this issue. Maybe some answers will come Friday after my nerve conduction test.

I have a ton of stuff to do at the house but I came home and just rested/napped on and off all day. Here’s hoping I can get some stuff done tomorrow after work.

I did do my nails Sunday and even tried to work on my goals for 2018. Of course I’m not really focused on too much right now but getting this tumor found and cut out of me as quickly as possible so that I can maybe start to feel human again.

And, if you can’t tell what kind of day it’s been maybe this will give you a clue

Yeah I’m probably going to eat all of these suckers in the next day. Not good not good at all. But they taste so amazing.

Here’s to Tuesday.

I’ve Earned My Rest Day Tomorrow 329/365

Today was my 5th day in a row at OTF. It was an ESP day with a 7 minute rowing block. I wanted to die.

I’m getting ready to head out the door for my MRI.

Tomorrow is a day filled with physical therapy for the numbness in my hands and fingers and other appointments. Luckily it’ll be over by 2 and I can enjoy the rest of the day or I don’t know cold laundry do dishes and maybe clean my kitchen and bathrooms. We will see how much energy I have.

Have a great night and hope your Monday wasn’t too Monday-ish.

I’m Worn Out 328/365

Ughhhh I’m exhausted again or should I say still.

Today was Day 4 at OTF in a row and I’m feeling it that’s for sure. One more day and then a much needed day off from the gym. I’m getting really tired of rowing. There has been way too much in the line of rowing the last few days. I’m dreading what may be in store for me tomorrow. Hopefully it’s light on the rowing.

I’m still getting the splat points and burning some calories. However, today I was struggling through it. Add in it was an endurance day and well I was miserable. But, I showed up I pushed through it, and I completed it. Which is better than the person who sat on the couch instead.

Tomorrow I’ll be working out then it’s off to work for back to back to back meetings. After that I’ve got my MRI scheduled. Here’s to hoping that they find what they are looking for and I can get this taken care of and start to feel better.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Friendsgiving Prep 326/365

I started my morning off with a little post Thanksgiving burn at OTF. It was a power day with a bit of rowing. Like 3 mini blocks of rowing. Ughhhh add that to yesterday’s partner workout with lots of rowing and my whole body is feeling it. Here’s hoping tomorrow isn’t too rough.

Tomorrow I’m attending a Friendsgiving with a bunch of my Kickball peeps. So I spent the day prepping and cooking all of the food I’m bringing. I’m hitting OTF later than usual and my oven is less than desirable. I refer to it as the EZ Bake Oven. It’s the same size you’d find in an RV. So yeah I’m only fitting one thing in at a time. Kitchen renovations aren’t happening anytime soon but when they do, uhmmmm this is the oven I’m going to find.

Anyway I made a broccoli cauliflower cheddar casserole.

Made gluten-free so I can enjoy it.

Green Bean Casserole as well with gluten free French fried onions.

Also made this Butternut Squash with turkey sausage, apple, and cranberry stuffing. I’ve never made it before but it looks and smells delicious.

Then it was time for a dessert because we all know there will be tons of pie which I won’t be able to eat. So it was this Paleo Apple Cranberry Crisp. I’ve made this several times before and well it’s delicious.

Look at all that goodness. I also am bringing Paleo Pumpkin Coffee Cake which isn’t pictured.

I’m pretty sure there is going to be tons of food and yumminess. Good thing I’m going to OTF in the morning I’m going to need to burn some calories to help offset the eating I’m going to do once again.

Hope your enjoying the holiday and weekend with your loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving 325/365

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁

I started my Thanksgiving off right with a killer of a workout at OTF. It was a 3 partner workout, so it was basically a 3G workout, which I’m not a fan of but hey I was there and I needed to burn some calories so I could stuff my face later.

Yeah, that red is thanks to all of the rowing I did today. However, I paired up with other non-rowers and I’m pretty sure I got us the most meters. So, I mean I suck at rowing but I’m not the only one so it’s all good.

Today, I’m still sneezing like crazy and a little congested but I actually am not extremely exhausted. So, I got some tidying up done around the house, I haven’t cleaned cleaned in forever but I’ve been able to tidy up a bit and it doesn’t look completely like a trash dump.

Laundry is going and I have 2 loads left to do. And, 7 loads to fold and put away but at least I have clean clothes.

I had been invited to several Thanksgiving dinners since the husband is overseas, but with the whole I may be coming down with something, the fact I had some energy and my house needs some TLC, I decided to stay home.

I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and made myself a Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey breast cutlets as I don’t need a whole turkey or turkey breast for just me, mashed potatoes, gluten-free stuffing, carrots, green beans, cranberry sauce, and biscuits. Uhmmmm can we say I’ll be eating leftovers for days.

Tomorrow I’ll be cooking up some dishes for a Friendsgiving I’m going to on Saturday. Yeah I’m sure there will be more leftovers. My freezer is quickly getting filled. However, that’s okay because I’m going to have several weeks of recovery time coming up and freezer meals I’m sure will be perfect.

Happy Thanksgiving and if you’re braving the Black Friday shopping good luck, good parking, and quick check outs.

Really 323/365

As if I don’t have enough to deal with I’m pretty sure I’m getting sick. I’ve been having sinus pressure for a few days and then today I just started sneezing and haven’t really been able to stop and definitely have some congestion.

Ughhhhhh I don’t need this crap right now.

Trying To Make Sense Of It All 322/365

I started my Monday off with a workout at OTF. It was an endurance day and well those are my least favorite add in I had a killer headache and I just wasn’t feeling it. I worked hard but I dropped my speed on the second block and let’s not even discuss the rowing. I finished them but nowhere near what I know I am capable of.

I’m taking tomorrow off from the gym and I’m hoping I’m feeling better and more motivated come Wednesday.

Tonight for dinner it was some leftovers and a lemon pepper chicken breast I picked up super cheap yesterday while grocery shopping. It was so good. I’ll be sure to be on the lookout for them again when they are on sale.

Now onto the heavy stuff. As I’m learning more and more about Cushing’s Disease I’m realizing how serious this is. It’s fatal if left untreated. I’m glad it’s been found and looking back and now knowing what the signs and symptoms are I realize I’ve been “sick” a lot longer than I thought. I mean for the last 2+ years I’ve known something was seriously wrong and getting my primary care doctor to listen to me was a battle. And, this part makes me angry. I told him over and over for 2 years that there was something seriously wrong with me and it was ignored. It was you need to see a nutritionist, you have sleep apnea, and you just aren’t trying hard enough. Basically he formed an opinion of me and stuck with it. Every day he didn’t listen to my concerns was another day I was getting sicker, one more thing in my body was slowly being altered and or destroyed.

I’ve gained 150 pounds in 18 months, my skin is worse than that of a teen hitting puberty, I basically have a beard from all the facial hair growth. My vision in my right eye went from 20/30 to 20/150 in a year it hadn’t changed in 5 years, not to mention I’ve lost vision in my field of vision not a lot but would get worse if this hadn’t been found. I have nerve damage. I have numbness in my ring and pinky fingers and my palms. We won’t know if this will correct itself after the tumor is removed. I have high blood pressure, I have scars all over my shin from skin lesions/rash I have, bruises everywhere, the hair on my head is thinning, and let’s not even talk about the fatigue. All I want to do is sleep. I’ve been sleeping on average 18-20 hours a day for weeks. How can you live a life when you’re only awake for 6 hours a day.

I’m of course in a holding pattern right now as I’m waiting for my MRI which is scheduled for next Monday. I’m hoping by the end of next week we will have a clear picture of what we are looking at with this tumor and to get the surgery scheduled and start to get my life back.

I will say this if you know something is wrong with you don’t stop until they listen to you because only you know your body. If I had given up fighting my doctor who knows where I’d be this time next year. You have to be your biggest fighter.

Here’s to Monday and a great Thanksgiving week.

It’s Been A Day 321/365

I woke up this morning feeling more tired than when I went to bed last night.

I headed off to OTF for my Sunday morning torture session, I mean workout. It was a strength day with a run/row and to add to the madness it was also a switch day.

The blocks were all 10.5 minutes and luckily the run/rows weren’t too terrible. Short runs with short rows. I like it but it also kicks my ass.

The floor blocks were good and since the reps were lower I upped it on the weights and well my coach had me up them even more. She may or may not have received an eye roll.

Overall it was a good workout and I’m ready to see what tomorrow has in store for me. Oh and did I mention that Friday was my 100th class which made today 101. Here’s to the next 100.

After OTF it was off to grocery shop. I of course didn’t meal plan this week which meant there was no list. I knew I needed stuff for Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving so I grabbed that stuff and then found some meat that was on sale and decided that would be dinner at some point this week. I figured I won’t need to cook too much since the end of the week I’ll have tons of leftovers.

I went to 3 stores. And, they were all insane. Holy people out grocery shopping. I started off at Trader Joe’s and picked up some staples I needed. And, while there discovered they had new sparkling water flavors. What!!!! Yeah I had to buy them all. This is how I left the store:Yeah a wine box filled with my waters. It was perfect since I’m just leaving them in there on the floor until I’m ready to drink it.

After Trader Joe’s it was off to Aldi’s to pick up some items which was pretty quick and then it was off to Kroger to pick up some deli sliced cheese and my almond milk. After that it was home for a nice relaxing shower and then pretty much I’ve become a bum.

I have no appetite and am not in the least bit hungry. However, I need to eat you know that whole need food to live thing. However, I’m not feeling like cooking nor do I want anything elaborate. I had ground turkey that needed to be cooked up so I basically recreated a meal I made a few weeks ago when I was feeling the same way. I’ve decided to call it healthier hamburger helper, who needs stuff that comes out of a box. Cooked up the ground turkey, some gluten free pasta, and topped it with a pumpkin butternut squash sauce. And, well there is a crap ton of leftovers. So yeah no worries about the not planning for the week as I have plenty of leftovers and will continue to rack them up as the week goes on.

Here’s hoping tomorrow I’m feeling more awake and motivated to get things done. As I have a whole ton of laundry that needs to get done and a kitchen that could use a good scrub.

Hope your weekend was enjoyable. Now I’m going to read my chapters for my book club tomorrow and then call it a day.

A Little Hope 320/365

Today I got up well before the sun drove 2.5 hours and got to be part of something amazing. I was out with RocSolid Foundation and our wonderful sponsors WAKA to build a playset for Olivia and her brother Tristan. Olivia is battling brain cancer.

This family’s life may be consumed by doctor appointments, chemotherapy, sickness, and bad days, but not today. Today they got to forget about the fight they are in and enjoy themselves as a family. A limo picked them up whisked them off to breakfast and then a morning of bowling.

When the family returned we had cleaned up their backyard and built a playset for them to enjoy long after we’ve cleaned up and returned home.

This is what hope looks like and what it’s all about. So proud to be a part of this amazing foundation and all they stand for.
